Frequently Asked Questions

You might have a few questions before you're ready to get in touch. If you can't find the information you are looking for here, feel free to reach out.

How do I know if therapy is for me?

Therapy is sought for all kinds of reasons and for all kinds of people at all different times in life. I view you as an expert in your own life and will collaborate with you to determine if therapy with me is a good fit for you. Remember, therapy should never feel like a prison sentence. If you feel ready and curious, give it a go. If that changes, we can always talk about it!

How long does therapy last?

The length of time in which someone is in therapy is individualized and differs for everyone. Some are in therapy for “tune ups” and spend 3-6 months in treatment, others might elect to be in therapy much longer. Its important to discuss your expectations for your treatment during the initial eval. It is common for most individuals to be in therapy once a week for a year on average.

Will you take my insurance?

At this time, I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans,  Encore, CHA and Aetna PPO plans. However, I encourage you to check with your insurance provider to determine if you have Out of Network Benefits.  To take advantage of this benefit, I will provide a statement for you to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company. Estimate of benefits is not a guarantee of coverage, its best to contact your insurance company directly to determine the costs you will be responsible for.

Where do I have to reside if I meet with you remotely?

If you wish to make an appoitnment as a new client for therapy,  you must reside in IL, IN, CO, or MA. Unfortunately, I am not able to treat outside of these states.

What does it mean to be seen remotely?

Remotely means we will meet via a HIPPA secure platform. Similar to if we were to meet in person, it is important that you have a private space where you will be able to access your session. This might mean your closet, your car (when safely stopped) or the living room of your home. As long as you have privacy and a safe space without too many distractions, all are welcome. Online sessions also provide the added benefit of cutting down on commute time and can be done in your comfy clothes should you wish!

Do you prescribe medication?

Medications are not prescribed at Modern Connections Therapy, LLC. However I would be happy to work with you to find a provider if you are interested in medication management.

Do you provide court ordered evaluations or assessments?

At this time, I do not provide court ordered evaluations or assessments.

You're not accepting new patients, what gives?

From time to time, my case load becomes full and I can't accept new patients. However, if you are wanting to work with me, please feel free to check back. My calendar can change quickly depending on clients who might be finishing treatment. In addition, you might consider joining a group I offer or taking a less convenient  time slot until the time you are interested in opens.

Additionally, I am always happy to provide referrals to other trusted providers.
